What is a balanced diet and why we need it?
In the past, doctors already knew the good influence of food in body functions. The nutrients that we find in foods help to get energy, to fix tissues keep the body temperature and keep functions that the body is always doing.
There are three types of foods: meat, minerals and vegetables.
A balanced diet contributes to keep healthy. With the organs working well. Some people want to eat only one type of food for example cereals or vegetables. But children, unless there is a special case, don’t need to eat a special diet.
To be healthy we have to eat all type of foods. a “dietary plan” consists of a variety of food in the amount that our body needs.
How is a balanced diet?
The body needs food to have energy. Minerals and vitamins are necessary to prevented illness.
There are six nutrients that food can content:
1. Minerals
2. Vitamins
3. Carbohydrates
4. Fibers
5. Fats (produces energy)
6. Proteins (produce body tissues synthesize enzymes and some hormones)
What is the food pyramid guide?
The food pyramid is a diagram that tells you what you have to eat more and less.
The order of more important thing is:
1. Grains
2. Dairy products
3. Vegetables
4. Fruits
5. Meat and beans
6. Oils
In the last food pyramid there were four food groups and now with the new one they were expanded to six. The new pyramid is more useful than the other one because it also has stairs that represent that if we need to change a diet we have to do it slowly and that we have to do physical activities to be healthy.
If a person is trying to gain weight they should proceed to have the highest amounts of recommended servings.

-We need a balanced diet to keep healthy.
-Unless there is an exeption, kids dont need to have special diets.
-We need to eat all types of food.
